HELP!! Tape on a photo

HI All,
How do you get rid of tape on a photo espescailly on a face!! ive got a very old Photo of great granny and its been taped for years so the tape has gone yellow and basically we cannot remove it or it will distroy the photo
how do you if at get rid of tape using photoshop or alternative.

Clone stamp/masking/smudge brush/playing around with lighting and shade, it was fun.

I do realise she now looks nothing like the original, i just did this to show what can be done, i hope others have a go and explain how they got to there versions of said same image.
Some great guys/gals here who can chop out a bit of tape and leave us with a good representation of the original.

I own several books on the topic of restoration / retouching. Newer books than C'Tien's are available (eg, the ones by Katrin Eisemann), but IMHO, C'Tien's is by far the best nuts-and-bolts, real-world guide.
