Help please, how to do this?

Attached an image to the post of what I'm attempting to do in order to aid the visualisation.

I'm trying to re-create the table top and wallpaper effect. For the table top I presumed it was a simple white rectangle followed by a grey brushing however it appears very rash when I try this method? As for the wallpaper, I presumed it was a pattern with a slight blur, I can't however seem to recreate the lighting?

Also attached my version which I'm playing around with, as you can see the bottom grey/white area doesn't look right at all.

(please ignore the other imagery, that was simply there for testing)

Thanks in advance.

Hi BS and welcome! Your right, the table top can be as simple as a white triangle, but don't use the brush, use the Gradient Tool. Create your white or an off white triangle.
Create a new layer above the off white triangle layer.
Select your Gradient Tool. Select the foreground to transparent preset. Select linear gradient.
Select the off white triangle layer by hitting Command + Clicking the layers thumbnail.
Make sure the New Layer is highlighted. Hold the shift key and make one gradient from the bottom up and on from the top down. Command + D to deselect.
Reduce the new (gradient) layers opacity to suit.

Now for the wallpaper. I added a layer style with a pattern overlay. The pattern is not a match but will do for a demo.

I then added a new layer. I used the Gradient Tool again, foreground to transparent, and radial gradient. White as your foreground color. I made a gradient on the new layer and lowered it's opacity to suit.

I wanted the edges to be darker so I used the Rectangular Marquee Tool to make a selection where I wanted the border of the edges to be. I then inverted the selection, Shift + Command + I, filled the selection with black, added a Gaussian Blur to suit, then reduced it's opacity to suit.

Sam, this is a very helpful answer for the OP and a good way for Newbies to learn the Basics of Photoshop.

Thanks Chris, I try to keep it close to what the OP posts as an example and fairly basic. It's hard to determine at what level of Ps experience the OP is capable of and I often assume wrongly.

Example: In this post, I assumed the OP knows what a Pattern Overlay is...............I may be wrong and might need to explain it further. Hopefully they will ask if they don't.
