[HELP] How can I obtain this look ???

It is hard to tell without a before and after image now a lot of the higher end cameras will pretty much do that as a standard setting these days however the beauty of photoshop is that it can produce those kind of effects as long as you know how to do it so upload an image you like the better resolution the better and I am sure someone will try and find the best solution for you.
At a guess that is curves bought down 1 stop possibly some noise added and a slight bleach bypass. But without testing it out on an image I wont be 100% sure

You are right Hoogleman,
At the moment I don't have an image like that to process, but I'll search something similar!

However the camera used is a 5D MarkII with the Canon 50L 1.2 (@1.6, natural light, 400 iso).

By the way I think skin toning is obtained with a B/W version of the image in Soft-Light mode and brushed where needed, or maybe with a channel blended with the original version to obtain a sort of bleach.
For the shadow I think he used a light S-curve with black-point se to an high value just to add a kind of haze effect at the dark tones. But these are only conjectures :(

I have wanted similar shots for ages but I think it is mainly done with the camera I just ran a high resolution image through about 100 different photo filters and nothing came close, and my photography filters are not basic. Couldnt even find a good baseline to work up from however if you do find something before I do then please come back and share

yep, me too.
This kind of looks touch my heart.
It's so vibrant but at the same time it looks so smooth an silky.

If I arrived to post this in this forum is because I extremely love it, but I can't reach those level of toning skill.

Obviously, shooting with a 50L gives you a less problematic file, more manageable file in post-production.
Buying also an X-Rite color checker passport with the bundle software help more.

However, after an accurate analysis, it doesn't seem so over-processed image. It looks like there are only 2 or 3 killer tips that make the most of the work. And if you look carefully seems that no zone-adjust is done, only total image adjustments.

I will analyze this until blindness :D

I know it's the lens that created the blur, what I can't understand, is how you have come up with the assumption that the tone of the picture has been altered in any way if you have not seen the original image! And going off your other statment about the image not being over processed, I'm wondering what look about this image, you are trying to obtain!!!

May I suggest getting the lighting right before shooting!

Getting cross-eyed staring at the eyes through the monitor.... lol...

But it would be great if we can have the original to see what process he could have done to obtain the FA.

I don't doubt the photographer. But sometimes they use the most minimal touch up in their works most especially if the original image is near perfect or needs the most simplest post-work that we would never even think about.

just my 2 sens....

thanks,
My eyes hurt :D

I obtain similar results applying some curve adjustments, but needs to have at least a similar photo....ATM I have only grandparents photos under my hands :D

Hi Marco Matteucci

At the beggining i was going for it, and desaturated or B/W version and then play whit blendings, but after a few mins, i realized it won't work the way it was supposed to, after applying the DoF effect, i went for a simpler solution, created a new layer set color to "009933" medium green set mode to overlay and lower the opacity, until you get a very subtle green tinted image, applied a layer mask to get rid of green on face, and after that just use the unsharp mask to shrapen a bit the main face features like eyes, nose and lips, if image still too lighter, play whit levels adjustment layers until you get something you like, and i think that was it.

Hope this helps.
