[HELP] Glass diffuse effect

Hello everyone, it's my first post! Feelsgoodman.jpg

Anyways, I'm trying to superimpose a label I made in photoshop on an image of a glass bottle. I have to provide a front and rear view (so obviously the label will be reversed on the rear). The problem I'm having is with the back-side of the label. I'm trying to make it look like it's on the other side of the bottle and therefore require some kind of glass diffusion simulation. Any suggestions?

I copied the label by itself to a layer below the bottle. Then I used the clone tool to fill in the hole left in the bottle where the label was cut out. Set the bottle layer to multiply so that some of the light grays of the bottle darken the label behind it. I used a soft brush to extend the highlights across the label. Lastly, I used the warp tool to bend the label just a tiny bit in an attempt to better match the curvature of the bottle it is wrapped around.

I am no artist, so the results could use some additional help. However, this may give you an idea to develop further on your own.

It sounds like you are doing this for a school project. The steps have been described to you. If you need them in greater detail, please ask. I guess it is up to ruffinati of course, but we discourage actually doing people's homework for them. Give it a try and see what your results are. Any problems, just ask more questions.

I agree with Clare. The best way to learn is to try it our yourself and post th result here and get suggesions to improve your work

That looks awesome man. Would you be able to send me over the .psd?

Cadenzo,

I didn't save a psd file. I played around with your image just a little bit, then uploaded the jpeg image you see above. After that I just deleted what I had as I have no need for it.

Looking back at the original image, though, I would also change the lettering at the bottom a bit. I didn't really look at it last night as your original question was only about the label.

The first thing that is off is that rather than actually reversing the text for the back of the bottle (flip horizontal), you just typed the words with the letters in reverse order.

The next thing I would consider is warping the text a little to match the curvature of the bottle. This can be done with the "Warp Text..." tool.
