First off I'm new to these forums so Hi everyone.

I've been trying to change the color of these splashes that I have linked below to #ff00cc and #996600. I start by changing the color overlay and trying different blending options, but when I do it doesn't come out the color that I want and it looses its depth as well. Is there a different technique I could utilize or any tips in general?

Select the color that you want to change you obviously have the code, change the code to the code that you need that should work fine? What am I missing?

Or you can use the photo filter, duplicate the color via selection process and use photo filter to the color you want

Color replacement brush maybe?

That's what's so cool about Photoshop so many different ways

Photo filter process or used colors mode/blueish and preserve luminosity on
Selection process was very quick I only selected the edge of the white straight across the image left the black that wouldn't of mattered anyway

I didn't explain myself that well. I want the splash to be for the most part this color, but still have its depth. Keeping the blending option at normal makes the splash look flat, but if I change it to say hard light or darken the color doesn't match up well enough. I kind of did it in this "A" below, but I'm having trouble reproducing results on different splashes.

The method that I mentioned has all the depth from the original photo.. are you referring to shadowing or embossing the edges
I think what you might want is inner Bevel filter to give that splash depth I only selected the tip of that splash and used the bevel filter and available color selected darker purple from the image is that what you want to do?

yeah thats what I wanted to do, I couldn't find the words exactly to describe it. What did u tweak under bevel and emboss to get that effect?

I'm not on ps or computer at moment, so I don't want to steer you wrong but I used the Bevel filter it's in the drop down within >layer style>bevel emboss filter>Bevel filter , can't recall settings used at moment
