Hello,
I have looked everywhere and I'd like to know if you know how to have a Black and White photo or even a colored photo then turned it to black and white which is what I'll more then likely be doing. Then I want to take an object in the picture and give just that object color. If you could help me with that I would really appreciate it. Also if you know how to make a collage or a place to check on how to put a main picture with three other little ones I'd appreciate that too. I'm new and I'm using the trial version to see if i can do this stuff before I buy the product. Thank you so much for your time!

Welcome! 8))

For the color and black and white: create a selection of the object you want to keep in color, then add a desaturate adjustment layer (this is one solution to remove colors, there are many around)

To create a collage, simply drag and drop the small images to your main document. Resize them (CTRL+T) if necessary.

Ok I'm lost. I tried to look through the layers and I dont' know how you select what needs to be selected. I'm a novice at this at best and I'm very ignorant of the software. I only need to be able to do this little bit to get by. I'm looking at a pic of my son and he's sitting on this huge block that has Texas in the middle. I want to make Texas colored and I don't know how to select it and do the layering thing could you advise me how to do that. Thank you again.. I'm sorry I don't "get it".

Welcome! :)

For anyone who is totally clueless as how Photoshop works I would suggest using the magic wand (see attachment). It could be that it doesn't work for your particular image though, but without seeing the actual photo it's hard for me to give a 100% working solution.

How would I use the magic wand? Ok lets say i wanted to use this picture and i wanted to keep the jeans and the shirt the right color but make the belly black and white. How would you go about doing that? I'm sorry I'm slow with this. Usually I can pick things up quick but it's just not working with this one..

Ok, for this image, set the Magic Wand tolerence to 20 (It`s right below where it says "Filter" at the top of the screen.) Click on the belly. It won`t select all of it the first time. See the "Marching Ants" ?
Ok, Now, hold the SHIFT key, the cursor will change. Click on an unselected area of the belly. Repeat until the entire belly is surrounded by Marching Ants.
Then, Go Image>>Adjustments>>desaturate.

Or, if you want to be able to adjust the area that is in greyscale afterwards, do this: after you have created your selection, go to the bottom of your layers palette, and mouseover the icons, until you find the "fill and adjustment layers" icon; it looks like a half moon.

In there, pick the desaturate adjustment layer: you'll get the same effect, but notice that the selection became a mask (the icon on the right side of your layer). You can now refine the selection using brushes, invert it (CTRL+I)...

Note that you must save the file in PSD format to be able to keep layers in your file.

One of the easiest ways while learning your way around PS is to simple click on the default foreground/background (D) and change the brush mode to COLOR.
Now simply paint everything you want BW.
