Help - Batch processing - New files created inside action are overwriting each other

Hi all,

I have searched and searched and cant seem to find an answer to what must be a simple problem.

I have 100's of flat images that I have to chop up into 3 parts and save as individual pieces to then load into a separate piece of software.

My problem is that when I start the batch, the 3 new images it creates for each image are simply overwriting each other when saving.

The options for serial numbers etc in the destination field of batch seems to only work for the original file opened, not the 3 new images the action creates/saves.

This must be a simple solution but for the life of me I cannot figure it out...

Thanks for any help,

Phil.

Re: Help - Batch processing - New files created inside action are overwriting each ot

I have just tried a different way:

I took the original file copied my selections and just pasted them back into the same document....so I had 3 layers.

I then downloaded an edited version of the 'export layers to files' script which cropped each layer before saving.
-------------

To my amazement, the script (and original ps script) originally enters the current document name as a prefix for you (ideal for batch!)....but as soon as you have used the script once it just pulls up your previously used prefix for all subsequent use....:banghead:

So back to square one with the files overwriting each other in a batch

I am waiting on getting a hold of a programmer friend who will hopefully be able to modify the script for me... but i am not holding out much hope.

I think I need to get my head into some scripting tutorials!.

Hi Phil
make 3 folders on your desktop before recording the action
ex "chops with 1st part" ; "chops with second part" ; "chops with last part"
then open an image for creating the action ex "image 01"
ok start recording like this
1) select the first part and delete the rest
2) "file >> save as" opens a box where "image 01" is already filled in as the filename
you cannot type a new name there
the only thing to do is browse to the folder "chops with first part"
3) go back in history-panel to first line
do the same for "second part" and "save as" to the second folder
do the same for "last part" and "save as" to the last folder

close the image and stop the recording
now you can batch 100 images
