Hi there fellow gurus i joined because i stumbled onto this forum and found it very helpful but i was wondering if you guys could help me with this quick picture. its from a youtube video  i was wondering how they created that nice... wind effect? sorry im fairly new to photoshop  so please and thanks in advanced :D /watch?v=Y_U6S6Z6APw

This is one of the first things I learnt when I started learning Photoshop =D

1)First create a black background then create the text in white. Rasterize the text layer (right click on the layer > Rasterize).
2)Duplicate the text layer (crtl+J).
3)Filter>Stylize>Wind, method: wind, direction: right. Repeat 1 or 2 times depending on how long you want it (ctrl+F).
4)Free transform (ctrl+T) the layer you just edited then rotate by 180 degree (right click), Repeat step 3. Rotate by 90 degrees CW, repeat step 3. Rotate by 180 degrees, repeat step 3, then finally rotate by 90 degrees ccw to end up with the text facing the right way.
5)Double click the layer (or right click>Blending Options) then click on gradient. Set the gradient to whatever you want or click the rainbow in the bottom left corner, then set the angle to 0 or 180 degrees.
6)Move the first text layer to the top (the layer you didn't edit) or if you didn't duplicate it then type the text again) and align it onto of the edited text layer.
7)Double click the unedited text layer (or right click>Blending Options) then set the colour overlay to black(if the text isn't back already) and click on outer glow, set the colour to white and make it as big as you want.

That brings back memories =D Hope it was easy to follow.
