Hi, folks, I'm just dropping in here to introduce myself. I'm a wannabe - I wanna be better at taking photos and then editing them in photoshop. Why, I hear you ask? Well, my first need is to improve my product photography - and my main want is to improve my knowledge of photoshop so that I can do all the fancy stuff, from making punchy posters to getting creative with landscape photography.

Half an hour should do it, then?

Welcome, Margaret. You're in the right place to learn PS tho a small community, we are. What PS version do you have and proficiency?

Browse through the forum of your interest and maybe learn something today......

Thanks for the welcome :) - I have a very old version of PS 7 as well as a slightly younger version of Photoshop Elements 5.

Am I proficient? .... er, well, I can resize photos fairly well - I can do some basic manipulation and then, when I'm totally inspired, I can wreck a photo in about 10 seconds flat! I have learned to duplicate images before starting work, so I know about safety nets. I can add basic text and tweak it a little; we do have a friend who used to work in the photo-retouching section of a newspaper - and I know my skills are non-existent compared to his. So, I hope to pick up tips and tricks from you here!

Anyway, onwards and upwards.

Well that's good. At least you have some basics. Stick around then, we'll be happy to help you out.

Photoshop 7 ..... no worries there.... I have it loaded in my computer with CS4. I still 7 the best of the PS line.

Hi - thanks for that :) - I was reading another thread and thought I might know a shortcut - dang, I tried it and it didn't work ..... <sigh> ..... I've just spent the day sorting an old computer in our shop (bad sector on the hard drive) - and was feeling pretty chipper. I had a feeling that it was possible to find mathematical symbols and more as alternative keys using my keyboard but that's not happening tonight! I think my best bet tonight is just to read. Tomorrow's another day for showing that I'm not a total dill!
