I am just starting out and trying to learn to use PS. I have several reference books but need some help with questions. So heres the first...

I am starting with a jpeg and want to create a new picture that will add crops of both ends of the original picture to the original picture, combine all three (original and 2 crops). I am elongating a key fob into a money clip.

The problem I have is getting the background of the original jpeg and the background of the 2 crops to have a transparent or “checkered”background so that I can combine them. The original jpeg has white around it. The crops have a black background around them and I don’t know what to do to get them where I can combine them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Charlie
