I must be the most boring, er, bored, individual of all time. I was wanting to get some hands-on at logo and brand design and all of a sudden, I wanted to redesign the PS Gurus logo for sport.

The base font that I used is called Magneto. The P is slightly modified while the S and G are based off the P itself because I did not like the style of those glyphs. Anyhow, the text design is simple with a simplistic enough concept in mind. The S is supposed to be rather nested in between the P and G, thus emphasizing Photoshop Gurus. It also keeps an unique version of the latest trend in Photoshop's abridged designators, the well-known Ps. I did my best to simulate the color wheel design while freshening up the overall style a bit. Blending multiple layers styles yielded some interesting results, of which really pop when I laid the whole affair onto a Cro-custom background and added some lighting effects.

EDIT:/ Sorry for taking down the original. I rather felt it was substandard, so I made some changes that reflect my attempt to bring the overall image up to par with the quality I have seen displayed by other Photoshoppers on this forum. I reviewed iDad's comments and backed off some of the effects to hopefully yield a "smoother" look while staying with my initial intentions. This is just a personal project and not meant to replace existing branding or designs. Thanks for viewing.

Very nice personal touch but I prefer the plane logo they have. I don't like what looks like the gaussian blur with the white tint to it. It does show you have imagination though, The letters PSG seem to be too burdened with filters if you know what I mean. I prefer the flat look when it comes to logo visual recognition, I guess don't take me wrong, it's nice work. Now I will "move along".

"don't take me wrong, it's nice work."

Why did you delete.?

I was in a food comatose state when I read yours and Paul's comments and thought, "I just made myself out to be a complete idiot." So, one idiot move of mine begat another. I then re-attacked the affair this morning with what I think are better results.

Looks good... I like it except can you separate the PSG a bit more? P & G is overpowering the S..... maybe place the G behind the S rather than separating?

And I just noticed the initials aren't the same height?

Thanks, Inkz.

dv8, thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the glyph scaling, I commented towards this in my OP: "The S is supposed to be rather nested in between the P and G, thus emphasizing Photoshop Gurus. It also keeps an unique version of the latest trend in Photoshop's abridged designators, the well-known Ps." I tried making all three glyphs the same height and keep them uniformly placed, but decided to nest the S in between the other two. The varied scaling helps to break up the monotony that usually comes from this font style to create a unique perspective.

I may experiment more. Will keep y'all posted.
