greyscale

Hi WarmingTheCurb,

Are you referring to turning an RGB image into Grayscale? If so there are a zillion ways and partisans of each. I favor the Channel Mixer (Image > Adjustments > Channel Mixer...), usually starting with a preset which is available among the preset goodies on the PS install CD. There is a small series of Grayscale Channel Mixer Presets and I usually start with the standard one and tweak to taste.

Not too long ago I uploaded that preset for those who hadn't installed it originally.

Cheers!

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to control, but my favorite method of converting to grayscale is to convert first to Lab mode, select the L channel and then convert to Grayscale mode, choosing to delete the other channels when prompted (or just delete the a and b channels). That will usually give you the most dynamic separation.

If you are more specific about what exactly you're looking for, I'm sure we can give you some better advice.
