Wow! That´s cool! What tool did you use to make those thorns? The liquify one or smudge or something?

Oh, and excuse my manners... Welcome to the forum! :) /vafann

Hi Vafann.
The thorns are a photo I took of rose branches on macro, ( I try not to use stock photo's) I roughly itched them out and blended them into the hands using a combination of masking and the stamp tool. The branches in the foreground are from another photo I took, Itched out (pen tool), Gaussian blur, to give the piece some depth. The hands was a photo i took some years back. I duplicated the layer, applied the hi pass (filter, other, high pass). Then de-saturated, M-curves for contrast. I duplicated the layer, gaussian blur, erased areas to help focus on the top hand. Then i used the burn and dodge tool for shading.
I hope that this is helpful.
A lot of what was done is about 'playing', have a vision then play with the tools and filters until you achieve it.
Have fun.

Oh yes! This is very helpful! especially about the gaussian blur giving it depth and the thing with the highpass filter that I have never used. Very nice, thank you! :) / vafann
