I wish I found this years ago! I am making a page with smaller photos on the LH side .. copy to the right .. then a large photo at the bottom upon which I use a gradient mask (GM) to fade this large photo behind the ones to the left... look's trick!

Greedy I am, I want to GM the top of this same photo but when I try I simply get a mask over the whole page? I tried duplicating the layer .. tried adding a second mask next to the one I mentioned above - but I must be missing a step in my excitement. Maybe you can tell me? Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to add a B&W gradient to mask in more than one place to fade both the top and the bottom? If so, change the blending mode of the B&W gradient to multiply and then try it.

... maybe visuals will help. I want to simply do a GM to the top of the bottom/right image as I did to the lefthand side of it.

I tried your way iDad .. 'cept I selected 'Layer' ... I really need to print instructions. They get scrambled if I try to remember for 10sec or longer..?

..... back again: I tried 'Multiply' and iDad's way .. it either seems to apply to the whole image, or wants to take my 4C and turn it into B/W?

Use the Gradient tool (G) set to foreground to transparent with black being fairground on a mask.

If you want this effect in only a certain part of the image, make a selection first and apply the gradient in that selection.

Steve: I think my mistake was not clicking on the second masking box when applying my second gradient. I was able to do the R-L Ok.. but I kept having the whole thing being turned into B/W?! .. when I clicked the mask button, I got a second box - but failure to select this second box meant the mask was acting on the whole image even tho' I had that specific layer highlighted.

It helps when you work in a cave to be able to 'reach outside' (like here, specifically) and find a helping hand. I appreciate your guys help. I have a better site/s for it. Cheers.
