I was wondering if anyone here has taken advantage of the Digimarc filter in Photoshop, or signed up for any of the Digimarc image protection packages on their website?

I was checking the feature out this evening and it dawned on me that this might be a useful tool, but I wanted to get some feedback from anyone who's currently using Digimarc.

If you are, or you have, please let me know what you think of the service - good idea? or waste of money?

Thanks :)

There is an old saying that locks only keep honest people out, and the same can be said for digital embedding.

There really is no one safe and secure way to protect images from copying.

I've never heard of anybody using it. But I'm sure that there are some folks out there somewhere.
Personally, it's the first filter I toss when I do a fresh install. Straight into the trash with it.

Me too, Stroker.

The web is for sharing. Besides: a 600pixels-wide image is, when printed at acceptable quality only three inches wide. For print quality, only two.
Most imges are jaypegged below max. quality which is always visible in print.

And most of all: all creation is a gift, a present.
My works are copyrighted against people making profit out of them, but I don't see why someone who downloads something and puts it on his desktop or in a folder should be punished.

Madsetr is right. I'd even add: the more locks, the more thieves know there is something interesting. One time, me too I've spend several hours tryin,g to download from a well protected site. That's fun. The moment I knew how, I lost all interest s the images weren't even inspiring...
ehhh...

I don't want to punish anyone, I was merely inquiring about the filter. I actually never paid it any mind until last night when I started messing around with the File Info feature after saving some watercolor pictures I found on the Web.

I really have no interest in using the Digimarc filter - especially at $50-$150 a month. I was born at night, but not last night.
