So im completely new at any type of animation so this is probably a silly question but,

im trying to get some text for a logo to glow, i managed to do in photoshop no problem, but whenever i go to save (for web & devices) the glowing text gets some white border around it (matte) i tryed removing the matte but it completely removes the glowing part. What i need help with is making this matte transparent without removing the glow.

Reason it needs to be transparent is theres gonna be another gif behind it slowly sliding to the left

This is what it looks like in photoshop, then when saving the matte appears, then what happens when i save with no matte. HELP xD

Have you tried saving it as a compuserve gif in the regular save as menu rather than save for web and devices? Just make sure the text is the only layer turned on.

Also if you are saving for web, check the dither setting, transparency is on, and the original quality tab in the top left is selected.

These are my settings, i get the same problem saving as a compuserve gif. Why isn't it useing more than 3 colours

Noone knows?

Is there any other programs that allow me to make a glowing text animation without the weird background?

I think you are getting the white background because the glow has edges of color that feather out and the gif needs to be interlaced. So select that option when you save. It still won't reflect your feathered edges but you won't have the white edge.
