I belong to an organization that has been fighting internet censorship for some time. Please read the following if this gets your attention and see if there is anything you can do about it.

This is urgent. The TPP Internet censorship plan is beingfinalized in secret meetings right now. More than 100,000Watchdog.net members have already spoken out against the TPP.

Now we'redoubling down and teaming up with several other organizations and millions ofpeople to block it.
We need all hands on deck at thiscrucial moment. We'll be delivering millions of petition signatures inabout a week, and we want your name to be one of them -- just click here.

Here’s thesituation: President Obama himself is in secretive meetings with key politicalfigures and lobbyists in Asia to lock the Trans-Pacific Partnership’s Internetcensorship plan into place.
We know fromleaked documents that this secretive plan will censor your use of the Internetand strip away your rights. If finalized, this plan would force ISPs to act as“Internet Police”, monitoring our Internet use, censoring content, and removingwhole websites.
Itwill give media conglomerates centralized control over what you can watch andshare online.

We urgently need your help to fightback. Add your voice right now and we’ll project a Stop the Secrecy message onkey buildings in Washington D.C. to ensure Obama, the media, and everyone elseknows this censorship plan must be stopped.
Once keyleaders finalize TPP Internet censorship plans it will be used to globalizecensorship across the world. Thismay be our only chance to stop it.
Ourattention-grabbing message will shine a light on their secret plan and willmake clear to Washington lobbyists that the Internet community will neveraccept the TPP’s secrecy or censorship. The more who speak out, the larger ourprojection will become, and the more people we can reach.
Thisis a decisive moment: we need to act right now -- join us, OpenMedia, andDailyKos as we fight back.

Join with millions of people allover the world to shine a light on the TPP’s job-killing Internet censorshipplan. Let’s send decision-makers and the lobbyists pulling the strings amessage they can’t ignore: "Stop the secrecy now."
With everyvoice that is added to our call the Stop The Secrecy projection inWashington bigger and brighter.
We’vestalled them before and we can kill this censorship plan if we act together atthis critical moment.
Thebureaucrats and lobbyists think they can ram through this damaging binding planbehind your back and without your consent.

Click here to help make sure theydon't let them get away with it.
Thank you forbeing a part of history.

If you don't think it's here already, your dreaming:mrgreen:

everything good is already censored or only really accessible via tor proxys anyway, yeah they can block normal websites but in scale only 5% of the web is indexed and searchable via google, there is a whole new level on .onion dmains that are not listed and if you manage to successfully access them via services such as TOR network (really the only reason you would want to is if your after something illegal) but the same methods used for that can unblock any government site blocking.

As always the people censoring the web are behind and there are always ways around it maybe not so for the average Jo ooops I have said to much if you dont hear from me for a while then assume I have been kidnapped and being held in some secret Government Black site being waterboarded.

I'm finding all of this very interesting. I find that I willfully turn my attention away from matters such as this to give them room to grow or fall before I become involved. Since Clares posting, I've done some reading to catch up on the matter.

I agree with Hoogles comment that anything good and worthwhile is already being censored. I was vaguely aware of TOR and I want to look into this.

I really would like to know more about the affects on copyright, so I need to read some more.

Thanks Clare for posting this.

I followed my Queen blindly and signed up. They attempted to extract funds...but "more research" is warrantied prior to any distributions.

Sam, you're welcome

@ Larry, lol, never follow into battle blindly! Yes, they ask for funds but they don't insist. And if you want to continue to receive info, they don't ask for membership. They want to spread the word and the internet is their best mail carrier.

Tor has been going for absolute years, and used to be able to use it to skip login screens at places like starbucks for limitless free internet, instead of just an hour. Good times.

This censorship has been in the pipe line for a long time, and there are certain governments who will push this kind of thing through, no matter what the people think. Probably made legal with all these new laws concerning the 'T' word.

Luckily, there is always ways of staying one step ahead of these governments, and if not, the internet will evolve into something else.

That will be interesting to see. The power of the people wins out. I hope you're right. I hope as much that the collective governments quit the insanity and realize just what you are saying Chad.
