Generative Fill question ..

Before the update in Photoshop, I was able to make a selection and the Generative Fill option box would pop up. Not so now. I now have to use Edit/Generative Fill.
Any idea as to what I setting I have changed?

I haven't updated to the latest version yet so I can't say if it's a bug or intentional behavior.

But there's a possibility that you might have accidentally clicked the option to hide it.
Try to re-enable it from

Window -> Contextual Task Bar
