hello...

I've had a look - I don't see a straightforward solution to this one. From what I could determine, quite a bit of manual re-working went into this - and the results are excellent. You can look for example at the white "stroke" around the body of the girl & bicycle - that was not in the original, so it would indicate that the she was extracted from the background and then manipulated (just her image of course, not the girl herself).

But to give you a start, you can do a few things - first desaturate the image to get rid of the yellow tones, then you can create your first layer (copy the original), play around with the curves to increase the contrast a bit in a controlled manner. What you can then do is copy this layer, blur it a bit and play with the mixing mode of it - it'll give your a more gradual grayscale transition.
