Hello,
I have a hand drawing of a logo and i would like to know if someone could make it into a vectorized, clean version ?

Here's an example (Lacoste):

I need privacy on the logo, so if you are okay to work with me you can't post in on the forum and i'll make you sign an NDA.
I'm willing to pay but I have a short budget: 20$

Here's what I can do with the example you posted. One is a B&W version that shows anchor points and paths after I converted it to vector art. The 2nd is a color vector version. I didn't show anchor points and paths in this example for this because they tend to get lost in the color.

If interested, send me a private msg.

Tom M

PS - Mods: Since this is not the actual image to be worked on, and it is not a scalable vector file (which he wants), I saw no need to watermark this little demo.

Tom Mann, you'd be surprised about the watermarking. I once uploaded an image I found on Google for example purposes and the mods here insisted I watermark it when it's not even my image! I think you would be asked to do the same. I don't see the reason to show a portfolio for a job like this. If you want a picture converted to vector then it's not relevant for you to see my design work. However, you are welcome to view my past posts on this forum to see the logos I have created. I don't unfortunately have a portfolio of design work, just editing.

Well since i have to choose someone, i find it relevant to see portfolios.
I'm not going to send multiple Non-Disclosure Agreement .. it's a bit against the idea.

you're wanting to pay 20$ for a logo and asking for signed NDA..... I do private things just about weekly and I have never seen a request for NDA with such a little amount, for professional results,(especially for a logo).. I suggest you download illustrator for the 30 day free. and do it yourself save $20

Tom, please use watermarks anyway. It's our policy in this section, and like gohan said, you never know. Thanks, Clare

Psiy, some of us have albums on the site. So pick a name, go to their profile and scroll down to albums. Some signatures also have the artist's link to personal galleries, etc.

I'm with iDad on this.

FYI, the OP sent me a PM saying that he liked my work and wanted to use my services, but because my first example conversion (the B&W one) was *more* detailed (ie, higher quality) than the tiny B&W example conversion he showed, he wanted to drop the pay to $10 (and still require me to sign an NDA).

Given that sort of haggling for absurdly small amounts of money, and that any NDA is almost certain to need substantial tweaks (ie, time on my part), I thanked him and told him that I wasn't interested.

re: watermarks - Will do. I keep thinking in terms of watermarks being only for copyright purposes (and I certainly didn't want to seem like I was attempting to copyright a derivative of a Lacoste image), but I keep forgetting that they do serve other purposes here.

Freelancers & OP:

This is one of the most ridiculous job requests I have heard in a long time, since we had some manipulation requests for $5.00 and $2.50. Those were some of the posts that spurred me on to getting the freelance rules updated and a revised price list added.

I left out vector conversion and since I am seeing enough of these requests, I am going to add that category to the price list. Minimum price will be $50, unless it is so simple it takes 5 minutes. Any of these prices are subject to negotiation between the OP and the freelancer. If you decide the job can be easily done for less, fine. If the work is such that you want a greater pay, that is up to you to work out. But I am setting this minimum rate. $20 does not cut it and $10 doesn't even come close. Including an NDA? :bustagut:

If any of our member freelancers have input regarding this rate, etc., please respond.

$20 was cheap, $10 is absurd. This job should have been a minimum of $50, and I would have charged more.

I agree completely with the $50 minimum, Clare. It was bad enough at $20, but when he tried to knock it down to $10, saying that he did not need such good quality, I got very bad vibes from him and bailed.

Thank you very much, Clare, for the update.

just placing my outlook on this, and please feel free to tell me kindly if any of you disagree, but i also don't believe vectorizing something like this into something very close to the lacoste logo, is such a good idea without knowing the full context to what it is being used for, I know it may be with good intentions, but it's sparked up a little alarm bell in my head and the NDA has made it ring louder.

the minimum price of $50 also stands as a rule in the freelance forum, $20 or even $10 for vectorizing a logo and signing a NDA is quite low, i also believe that finding someone who does the job for you at a cheaper rate but with good quality, will be hard to come by $50 is reasonable in my eyes.

not sure if you guys agree, just putting my two pennies worth in here. ;)

Hi Zee -

My impression is that the actual artwork he wanted to be vectorized had nothing to do with Lacoste art, other than it being similar in terms of size, complexity, etc. However, I never go to the point of actually seeing it.

Like you, anticipating possible legal problems, when I replied to him, I said that *I* reserve the right to turn down the job after I see the actual image. For all I know, it could have turned out to be child porn, theft of copyright or almost anything else. Fortunately, he and I didn't get past the 1st round of emails. ;-)

Since the OP hasn't appeared, I'm closing this thread.

Psiy, As mentioned, we do have a price standard. Your intended fee doesn't justify the amount of time involved to do the work and an NDA.

If you feel you can up your budget, please contact a Mod to reopen this thread.
