I programmed it a while back. Only works for Photoshop 7.

Backup: Click on preference file/backup
Restore: Click on preference file/restore

Might be handy if you have to reset your preference file again :\

B7 Way cool... thanks G-Man! [excited] :righton:

A G thats cool... :righton:

bye the way where does photoshop place his prefs file?
And I would like to know whats the problem on earlier versions of restoring backing up them too???

regards
s!

It's just easier to use the program instead of trying to remember where you can find the preference file, that's all ;)

Btw, here is where you can find the preference file in Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Settings\Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.psp :D

Ah you're right it's cool :righton:
thought which enviroment you used for coding?
I use Delphi by myself...

Here is a tip for preventing the PS preference file from becoming corrupted in the first place.

Right click the PS preferences file, go to properties and set it to READ ONLY after you have your preferences set.

The only catch is that if you later want to update your preferences you will have to undo the Read Only property first.

This will keep the preferences files from getting over-written which causes the corruption at times.

Yeah...might come in handy. I got a wireless Logitech mouse, and the cursor always disappears except when on a dialog box.
Yet it might also be some plugin...first try and get them out of there.

Anyway: thanks! :righton:

Also making the preference file read only is not a good idea! With newer versions of Photoshop variables are stored in this file and used from session to session. This started with CS3, so please don't make the file read only!
By all means back up the files, but yet again there are more important files that should be backed up!

Is it read only by default? I'd still like to download the backup program. I have v.7 and the link doesn't work to get the download.
