Format drop down menu only shows three formats

how can I active the GIF, JPG and the other formats that photoshop offer?

That has nothing to do with it, even 16 bit and 32 bit files can be saved in more than just 3 formats.

It seems to me that his installation is messed up, hopefully a reset of preference file might do the trick.
