Hi all, this is my first post in this forum and is good to be here.

Ok so im trying to build a similar header as to the one shown in the link. I really like the swirls, colors and effects around Tyson, but I dont know where to begin. Are there any tutorials that can give me something to work on in a similar matter? As this is my first post i cant insert a link so please visit the site to see the example i mean. It looks pretty darn cool.

Thanks :)

You don't mention how much Photoshop experience you have but in order to achieve the effect you want you need a thorough understanding of layers. After that it's just blending 2 (or more) layers together. The Tyson isn't all that difficult but you need to start with an image containing the swirl effect (much easier to look for royalty free background images than to try to create them from scratch).
Hope that helps. If you want more in depth info, upload at least the main image you will be using. Once again though, you need to understand layers and how to blend them.

ok so i know a little with photoshop. I know about layers but not 100% on all the different layer modes like multiply, screen, etc. So what I have is a black canvas 1010px wide by 360px high, its black background and has a picture that has been cut out of wlad klitschko. I have several brush sets of smoke and swirls. What would be the next steps in this task?

OK so this is what im after

and i have something like this so far

Im after a similar effect to the top one, but am unsure. any help please would be great. any similar tutorials out there i can follow?

First, you need the effect on a layer that is entirely transparent ;Allong with the person or object you want to add the effect too.
Second, You duplicate bothe layers.
Third make 2 of the layers not visable.
Fourth, Place the effect layer ontop of the layer with the person or object.
Five, Then change the effect layer mode until you can see the effect ontop of the person ,but not present anywhere else. (Required black Background color.)
Six, Then duplicate the origonal layer and place behind the object layer, and make it visable.
Seven, Make sure that layer mode is normal.
You can change the layer setting as you please till you achieve the disired effect.
Don't forget you can also saturate it more to bring out the color.
I will post my .psd file when I get home.

It is not a type of brush...
It was gotten from google images.
This is the picture I used for the effect.

And, you can use any fighter you pick...
Sorry, I forgot to save the .psd...
And, I do not have time to recreate it...
hope this helps.
