Illustrator Fill in-between two shapes

Hello*

My problem is thus.* I have the logo I am creating attached of a tree with a circle in the middle of the branches, and I would like to join the outer path to the inner circle so I can fill the space in-between with a colour.* The tree shape needs to be filled in green with the circle left transparent.

How would I go about joining those two paths, without creating a line between them?*

just selct the inner outline copy and paste ad color if I understand what your asking

What you've done with the image is exactly what I want. But I don't understand how you've done it. Please can you explain a bit more.

SELECT the inner area of the tree using (in this case I use magic wand) I copied selection>pasted a new layer with it and added a green gradient to it Save the png without a background relatively simple process.

Two or more paths are compound paths, select both and look at the tool options in the tool bar. It's similar to the selection tool options:
