I have manipulated these two images, the background + the knight. But something is off and I can't put my finger on it. So any suggestions, feedback and/or help would be appreciated.

I'm no expert at this by any means. but the first thing i notice was the shadows, they seem to going in different directions. ie the tree shadow on the left is coming down a different angle than the knights shadow. Not much i know but this is all i see on a lap top as old as the hills with poor images.

Thanks for the feedback, yea the angle of the shadow is a hard one, as you see the two sets of trees to the left and to the right are both in different angles. The light source is confusing for me, so I made the angle of the shadow to be something in between. Argh this is hard!

I agree with inky on the shadow. The Knights shadow would cast in the same direction and angle as that of the trees. You actually have the shadow in the right position, what's off is the shadows perspective. The shadow would grow wider as it moves away from it's source, yours grows thinner. The shadow needs to be a bit darker to match the trees shadow.

There's seems to be a loss definition in the Knights mid and lower left side (our right), but I'm not sure how it can be helped. His left arm and armor are a bit too bright to me, the contrast is off with his much darker lower left half.

Not a bad idea or attempt! I do wonder what he's doing out there all by himself!

I like the richness in your creation PhotonShap, the atmosphere is really good. Overall a very good job.

Try to fix the shadows as inkpad and Sam already mentioned. Bear in mind that the shadow can be hard at the beginning then should gradually change to soft. I also suggest to lighten the left side of the foreground a bit.

@Sam: He is not alone out there, his mistress is sitting on her horse taking the pictures.:bustagut:

Thanks for all the comments! @fotograffiti yea I know, I just started with the picture :). Work will be slow tho as it is not a priority!
