Feathering question

Hi all.

I can't find an answer anywhere in Ps help or on-line, but I'm wondering.

When I use the feather function in Ps, does the feathering start from the point of my selection (marching ants) outward to the designated number of pixels, or from the marching ants inward, or half and half, or what?

Thanks,

Agent

I believe by default it should be the marching ants are the exact middle of the feathering so yeah 50/50

Thanks, Hoogleman.

I was doing a picture collage yesterday, and was curious, as I was making selections close to the outside edge of the image. Do you know a website that has good "tool tutorials," that cover specifically how the tools work?

Thanks,

Agent

I believe Kelby training do a good course on tools and there uses but most of it is trial and error for example there are a mix of combinations for tools if you use a selection tool then you get the option of refine edges which lets you adjust the selection to either inside marching ants or outside marching ants add a soft feather or hard selection. The problem is none of the tools do just 1 thing except maybe crop tool and all though they may be designed for a pasticular task they can all be adapted to achieve something else. So yes you may find tutorials on basic uses of tools but I dont think you will find 1 that goes in depth with every possibility.
