Exporting Objects for Touchpanels???

So I have designed a background for a control touch panel. It's your basic design with all of the buttons on the left side. I designed the buttons so that they have a clipping mask to add a curve. I need the buttons to have active and inactive states. My background will have all the buttons in an inactive state. Is there a way to be able to export just the active state button while keeping its mask and shape or would I just need to export the entire page?
