Is there a way of making the lines around the edge of my designs all the same please, at the minute i make a new layer filled with the colour i would like.
Then i pull the corner in of the image i have made a recentre it to look square and equal, is there a correct and better way to do this please?

i'd start by creating a layer with the image itself .... enlarge the canvass making sure the anchor is at center .... with a little math, do your setting - say you want a 5 pixel border around a 200x200 image, add 10 to the width and height..... thus, 210x210 ...... all is left is to color fill the bg layer....

Use Image-Canvas Size, check the Relative box. Now add the pixel or inches that you want.
