Enlarging an image without changing the size of the layers.

Hi, I hope this is possible to do!

Basically, I have an image which I am looking to enlarge to put more information below. What I want to do is make the image bigger with blank space, instead of it making everything which is already in the image bigger. I hope that kinda makes sense. So I want to everything in the image to stay as it is, but I want the image bigger so I can add more stuff.

At the moment, when I increase the size, all the layers and everything increase in size to. Is there anyway around this?

Make another layer at the size you want, add your info, then drop your picture onto the new layer...adjust sizing with transform as needed
 
Sounds to me like your wanting to increase the canvas size. If the following link does not help then do a search on how to increase the canvas size in whatever version of Photoshop your running.

BINGO! that's what you need to do to get what you want. Look at the arrows in the 'Change Canvas Size' dialogue box. Resize in either percentage or pixels.
