Dull colors

Hi there. I'm completely new at photoshop, just got it yesterday (cs4). A very long time ago i used paint shop pro, but i barely remember anything from that and the two are pretty different anyway. I'm trying to make a website layout, but i've run into some problems and can't seem to find the answer on google. Notice how the very top text is a vibrant white color. When i moved on to the menu for some reason the text and the arrows are a dull white, almost gray color. The opacity is set to 100% for the text and the brushes. As i said i've done some searching and asking around and i can't find the answer on how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

>.< I'm not sure how to get rid of the second and third image. I saved them wrong and uploaded them by accident. I deleted them from the post but didn't realize they were still attached and when i went to edit it i couldn't find a way to delete them. Also, sorry for the double post.

Do you have adjustment layers that are meant for specific text layers?
If so have you made sure you created a clipping mask for these adjustments or they will effect all the layers.

Thank you for your reply! Would you mind telling me what you mean by adjustment layers and clipping masks? As i said, i'm totally new to photoshop.

Here's what I'm looking for.

You can create an adjustment from the pull down menu.
That adjustment is permanent and can't be changed and is applied to a single layer.

You can create an adjustment layer by clicking on the half white, half black circle.
That adjustment can be change at any time or not used at all, and is non destructive.

That adjustment is applied to the specific layer you intended it to be applied to, and all additional layers below it.
You can create a clipping mask to make that adjustment layer only effect 1 specific layer.

My thought here is that you have multiple adjustment layers effecting several layers.

Your screen shots aren't helping me, sorry

So if i somehow made an adjustment that would cause the dull colors?

I don't know but if you have an unwanted adjustment it would cause an unwanted result.
For instance the first Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer between the "Forums" layer and "Home Copy" affects every layer below it.
There's another Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer above the "Background" layer.

That layer has two Brightness and Contrast adjustments applied to it.
If that's what you want then fine, if you want these adjustment to be applied to a specific layer you clip them to that layer.

Turn off that top Brightness and Contrast adjustment and see what happens to the problem area.
If you want it to affect only the layer directly below it then create a clipping mask.
Select that Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer and type Alt+Ctrl+G or from the pull down menu select Layer|Create Clipping Mask.

Does that help?

I actually just figured out what was wrong. I had the text BEHIND the shapes instead of infront of so the color was appearing dull. Silly me (: Thanks so much for your help.

give this a go keep copying till you have the effect you what then shift click On all copies then merge layers , hope that helps
