Dropping a photograph onto an angled and curved page

Hi all, I'm having real problems trying to find a way of achieving the following.

I'm using an image from sxc.hu of a thick book lying open at an angle. I would like to put photos onto the pages - it was easy to drop them onto the right-side page using the distort tool, but I can't find a way of putting them onto the left-side page and matching the curve of the page.

What tools should I be experimenting with?

Hi Dan Smith welcome to the forum.

By the description you provided i can see that you are almost there just by using the transform you are in the right path, what you ca do now is use the Warp tool: EDIT>TRANSFORM>WARP, so you can match the pages perspective and bending by distorting the image to match up the pages

Another way will be using the liquify filter: FILTER>LIQUIFY, so you can get precise control over the pixel bending on the image,

Wow the warp tool is powerful! I tried it before, but after rotating the image I'd ended the transformation and started a new one for the warp. Rotating the image and then applying the warp without applying the rotation meant the guidelines matched up to the picture perfectly which was so much easier! Thanks for the links, they really helped.

Here's the first attempt, now I need to take the text off the book and change the colours to make it look part of the book I think the right edge of the photo needs straightening a little, will see how it looks! Thanks again!

I think if you use curves filter on the image added, it will help blend the colors to be more realistic bring out put levels down

Thanks for the advice, I've not ever used the curves filter before. In the past I've only really adjusted colours with hue/saturation/brightness etc - it's probably about time I learn how to do it properly There's a tutorial on that psd.tutsplus.com site for curves, so I'll give that a try!
