Drawing skin wrinkles

Hey everyone,
I've been working on a photo-realistic picture lately, but I can't seem to get the wrinkles in the guy's skin to look right. I'm finding very little info out there on how to do it. Is there any specific procedure for doing it, or is it just a trial-and-error kind of thing? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Paul, thanks for the link. I never thought of trying to do wrinkles like that, but I could give it a shot. I'd still like to be able to draw them, normally, so I have more control over the process, but using textures and blending them in is something I'll keep in mind. =)

You can still 'draw them in' via a new layer and tracing?

Hey Paul,
Well the problem is with the rendering. I can physically put the wrinkles on the drawing, but not sure how to blend/smudge/render them to look right. So your idea wouldn't really help me with that part of it. Does that make sense?

Hey Paul, well at the moment I've erased every attempt I've made, so I'll have to make a new one, then maybe post it =). However, you have gotten me thinking that I could try drawing the wrinkles on another layer, then try the blending modes to help blend it in. I'll give that a try. Thanks for the input and I'll post again soon =)

haha well I probably won't make any more attempts tonight, since I'm done drawing for the day, but I'll start first thing tomorrow and hopefully get it right. I'll let you guys know what happens, either way =)

Best tool I have found for drawing wrinkles, hands down the dodge and burn tool. It works with the established texture of whatever your working with instead of covering it up. As an example, I created the wrinkles on this work in process with just the dodge and burn tool. Left is mine, right is original. Hope it helps. :)

Hey Fatboy,
It's funny you post that, because I've recently "rediscovered" the dodge and burn tools, and have been using them with great success. I'll give them a try for the wrinkles. I've recently used them for hair/fur and one of the spatter brushes, and it works like a charm. Wish me luck and thanks for the reply =)

I don't like wrinkles and fade brown spots on my face and do herbal treatment to get rid of these anti aging problems. Now i think to work on your idea and see the results on Photoshop.
