Dragging images into session, how to make selection automatically 100% or with shrcut

When I drag an image into a Photoshop session (idk what to call it) that is wider than the canvas, Photoshop squeezes the dragged image to fit the canvas automatically. Is there a way to make it so Photoshop just lets me drag and drop the images at 100%? This workflow is going to go pretty slow if every single time I have to drag and drop and then resize manually to 100%.

Is there maybe a different way to go about this? Maybe a shortcut to turn a selection into 100% size?

Im not sure i fully understand the problem but I recomend you try to place it. Use "File" then "place" instead of dragging it in because that centers it ant puts into "Free transform" mode so you can resize it any way you want right from the start. Hope that helps a little :]

Thank you for your suggestion. I think it's doing what you're saying when I do this - I just wish there was a quick way to make it go to 100% instead of it being automatically the width of the canvas. I can shift click and drag to make 100% or type in, but I just wish there was a setting - I suppose there's not. Ah well - it will just take me a lot longer to get through. Going through "file" would take a long time due to the nature of what I'm doing vs drag and drop, but I'll try that and see if it gets some good results.
