Hi everyone. I was wondering if you could help me emulate and recreate the dotted patterns seen in these two images here. The effects I want to emulate are highlighted in red.

I have tried a few things, but find I can't quite get recreate the effects in the two edits, hence why I'm turning to you.

Please and thank you in advance for any help given.

One way of doing this is to open an image in photoshop (Any image) and make a new transparent layer. Turn off the background image so that you're just left with transparency.

Note: You could also just make a blank new canvas instead of using an image.

Go Edit/Preferences/Transparency & Gamut... and set the colours to whatever you choose.

Now take a screen grab of the transparent image in the editing area and save it.

Hopefully this helps you out a little.

Frank's way is pretty easy and good. I made mine slightly differently. I made a new pattern layer with something dotty looking. Scaled the pattern to something I liked. Made a solid colour layer in the colour I wanted and changed its blend mode to color. Rasterized the pattern layer and applied a gaussian blur to make it look better.

I think those dots come under half tones and Tom Mann is rather good with that sort of stuff.

Here's another way...........

Create a solid color background of your choice.
Go to FILTER > FILTER GALLERY > SCETCH > and choose Halftone Pattern.
Adjust the settings.

Then you can make any kind of layer adjustment, set to a different opacity, etc,.
