Dinosaur software causing problems

Hey gang, I am Running the Photoshop 7.0.1 on my laptop, and I am having an issue with my brush presets. When slecting any changes I want to make to the brush (for example, ticking the other dynamics box for opacity set to pen pressure etc.) the program does not recognize these choices were made. What I mean by this is that the thumbnail for the brush does not show the changes, and when using the brush, the desired changes to not appear either. I could really use some help with this. any suggestions besides updating to newer software? Thanks!

In the past, I've had similar problems with old SW, and it often turned out to be a "rights & permissions" problem. Specifically, a more modern OS may prevent the program from accessing the directories where the brushes and other presets are stored.

Try running your old program with full administrator privileges (or the corresponding thing on a Mac) and you may be pleasantly surprised. If that doesn't work, you might try reinstalling the old SW as an admin, not as a user. I've had good luck with that as well.

I'm sure other folks will have other ideas. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks so much. I reinstalled the sw using administrative privileges and what do you know my presets are working correctly again. its weird that that happened. I didn't have to specify administrative before and thy worked fine. anyways. thanks so much for the help!

I'm glad we got it fixed so quickly. Often it takes a whole set of back-and-forth exchanges to figure out what went wrong. I must have gotten luck this time. LOL.
