i would if only I knew how to make a pattern that would create a result like that

Here they used two patterns : 1. TV lines and 2.dots. Both can be made easy, you can search the Google ...

But for this time I can post the patttern here for you :
(right click and Save picture As...)

Hope this helps. ;)

ljiljana -> The scanlines I did already, hence the reason I didn't ask about them. And all though your dot pattern is nice, it doesn't provide the same effect.

MsOz -> I know how to make a pattern. I was asking how to make a pattern that would create the effect where the dot is like indented.

I get similar effect using dot pattern:

1. First layer:
fill with the color of your chose
2. second layer:
dot pattern ( you can change the opacity)

3.third layer:
dot pattern , CTRL+click ( to make a selection of the dots ) fill with white color and nudge for 2 px left or down ( change opacity).

If you use Zoom tool on your original image , you can easy find out how to create same effect.

I took your idea about zooming in and created an 11x11 pattern. I put a 1 px black dot in the middle, then applied a white drop shadow to it, and a gradient overlay, and it looks okay now. Not as good as the original, but decent.

I'm attaching the pattern incase you want to look at it. I tuned the opacity down to 50% and it looks okay.

This is how I see that pattern should be made:

Shades of black & shades of white.
When you want to use the pattern resazi it .

And also there is one more patern used here: made by 1 px squere brush and faded!

So to get that effect you have to have : base color layer,
squere dot layer and last this one on the top.

hope this can help as well! :)
