Just messing around with UI skins, and I came up with this. I have no idea how to turn it into a working player, but it's a start.

Yep. Where's that Steve Jobs when you need him? Bless his heart. Nice concept, and very well executed. I partularly like the highlights on the upper edges of the curves

Looks very Xbox-ish if you know what I mean.

Yes, I do see what you mean. Didn't really notice that until now. Maybe a color change or a pattern detail will help, I will play around with it some more.

The area where you grip (the sides) with your hands seems not enough to hold onto it, but otherwise pretty cool

 

[Spectrum]

I think it would look so much more bad arse if it were in matte black or very dark grey. I love the green. The inner shadow angle doesn't match the drop shadow at the moment - try matching the global light setting for both shadow values, otherwise it looks pretty slick.
