Difference in sharpness after rescale

Hi guys!

I am now using the new Photoshop CS6, and I am experiencing some differences compared to the past version. I do not know if it is a setting I have failed to see, or if it's supposed to be this way, or if something just is wrong.. What happens is, I open the raw, do the basic edits and as final transfer it to photoshop. I then sharpen the image (sometimes only in certain areas, sometimes as a whole, depends on the shot) and then continue with my editing. Once done, I save the image in full size, as well as in a rescaled size (700-800px depending on where it's posted). However, the rescaled image is A LOT sharper than the non rescaled one. I am wondering why this is, as it never happened in previous version?
It makes it rather difficult to know how I should edit the shot, as the end result might look a lot different than intended. As well as, I want my large and final image to be as sharp as the unedited one.

Cannot provide links to the photos as as I am a new member, so I hope someone can help regardless.

Many thanks in advance!

It's hard to give advice without seeing any images but I would recommend sharpening the entire image only after you are finished with your other edits. Sharpening before can sometimes cause problems in my experience. But naturally if an image if not very sharp, then scaled down it will 'appear' sharper.

when you go to edit>image size you will see there is a drop down menu at the bottom of the dialogue box 1 being sharpness for downscaling and 1 for sharpness for upscaling have a play with them.
