I am playing around with an idea to create an online freelance escapade. My current business name is Design by Hart (as in clare hart). But, it is old and I took down that website over a year ago. (thanks hoogle for trying to spy it out, and I became embarrassed to have you see my amateur effort, so voile, no website  )It's not that I entertain any pipe dream to have a great start-up business result. But maybe I can at least push it locally. And if I even get one job per month on the web - to begin with I suppose - I'll be temporarily happy. Of course, if this logo turns everybody off, I 'd better get back to the drawing board.

As I said . . . I think. I will accept all critique. Thank you very much (Elvis has left the building . . . in a hurry)Digital_Ideas_Small_Logo2.png

I haven't bothered with a watermark since all my shapes are straight geometric and the text is, well, text.

I like it Aunty, some nice gradients and shapes happening.

Now for the critique lol.....

When I first look at a logo I look for impact from that first glance. Initially, I couldn't read it right, I thought the other shapes may have been letters for the words. But then after a few seconds I could see that the "D" was for the Digital and Design.

I think the blue and grey work well together, so no issues with the colour palette.

Maybe add some drop shadows for depth. I'm not talking about huge black mass shadows lol, just something suptle. Also, maybe work along the ideas of "DDI". Create shapes or type with DDI in mind.

Overall, it's a very decent logo.

Thank you for the critique. I've been working on a revised alternative. I will try the subtle depth effect later. Here is one for now.

Maybe it would be good to lose the word "design" altogether. Long process this. Hopefully worth it in the end result. One change means move everything else around, lol. What else? Here it is decreased size.

Without the "ideas"

The "D" is still a bit rough. Needs to be cleaned up on some curves. I'll get to that too.

One more. I tried out a white web BG and a blue for the header. But we'll see. Haven't gotten that far yet. I have a website for my massage business but, like I said, took down the design by hart some time ago. It will be a lot of fun to make it for digital design and also as a showcase for the work I've done here on PSG, older designs, and for my paintings and drawings. Those are some of the pages I took down so it should be easy to reconstruct, maybe make slide shows for everything.

Thank you to Inkz for your valuable input and to dv8_fx for his from the sidelines suggestions which practically redid the whole logo. Great to have this much advice guys. That's why we come to the forum. Best to get as much straightened out as possible before going public! I may stay with the Imperial Beach, rather than the IB, but in town here, our surfer logo looks a lot like this. So maybe two versions . . . or 3
