deleting preferences

As photoshop boots up, hit ctrl+shift+alt, or go to your application data folder and delete prefs.psp. Photoshop will automatically generate a new file. This will not delete your actions, styles, etc etc....hope this helps...

Before you use the method that tranquil222 has given you, it's always a "good idea" to make a backup copy of your preference file first!
