Deadline help: displacement or 3D out of grey?

Hi,

Sorry for the rushed nature of this, but I'm on a deadline and hoping someone can send me a personal msg. in addition to posting here.

I'm trying to use either the displacement or 3D rendering function in Photoshop CS to make a realistic looking tattoo on a face, but I can't get "distort" or "render" to come out of grey no matter what I do.

Any ideas?

The answer is....

....you must only be in an 8 bits per channel mode, or you lose a bunch of filters. I found this in the archives eventually, just searched wrong initially.
