Dazed and Confused

Hey all,

I remember seeing a technique in a thread quite some time back that showed how to convert a portrait into text, with the letters replacing the light and dark values of the skintones. I've been searching for it and can't seem to locate the thread. Perhaps I've got the details wrong in my head and could be looking amiss.

Can anyone familiar with this technique post a quick explanation or a link thereto?

I remember because I did participate in it.

It might be that Gare made a backup as he doesn't want his forum to become too heavy. So you may want to ask him.
