Hey, I need to cut my friend out of a picture and put him on a light blue background. whats the best and most effective way to cut someone out perfectly.

According to a tutorial I saw on this subject, it greatly depends on the complexity of the image you are cutting your friend out of. Is he on a solid background? Just a few different things going on behind him? Or is it a madhouse behind him?

While there are several methods for cutting an object or person from an image, from my understanding, using the pen tool is probably the most common. However, there is an alternative worth a look over at Tutvid.com. It's called "Advanced Hair Selection: Making Difficult Selections with Channels!" Even if his hair isn't a problem, it's a great tutorial.
