Curved lines using Photoshop

Hello all, I constantly use Photoshop for model airplane plan drawing. However, I haven't being able to draw a perfect curved line, not necessary a circle section or a perfect elipse etc. My crude method is using line tool and drawing miniature lines to create any needed curve. Naturally, the results are very poor. How is it done? Thanks!!!

I have another problem, when I tried to write a sentence over one of my model airplane plans, it turned orange!! Why? How can I prevent this? What is the purpose of this colouring of the plan? It doesn't happen to all my plans. I suppose it is due to the extension but I'm not sure. Please sea attachment. Thanks!!!!

Hello once again bothering you. Thanks in advance for your help. I tried to make a smoothg curved line but on step 3 in Agave I get what you can see on the attached screen print. What am I doing wrong? The version used in Agave group is an older one. Mine is CS6. Could there be a problem with interpretation? Thanks again

When using the pen tool make sure it's set to "path" in the top tool bar options, not "shape".
