cursing cursor!!!

HAHA lil bit of humor. But in reality, sometimes when i open ps cs3 and open a pic, all i get on the screen is the stupid hand cursor and i cant for the life of me figure it out. I only got ps becuz my mom got it so I had to figure out how to use so i could show her. and i love it. but this effen cursor thing is pissing me off. the only way i know how to fix it now is to restart my whole com. and that not fun. if anyone can help plz do. plz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thnx

Sometime when i open a photo to manipulate, (i.e.- file/open) when i hover the mouse over the picture, the cursor is a glove. when i click on the paint brush, instead of getting the paint brush cursor, i still get the glove and can not do anything with the picture. Ive tried to close the application and re open it but the same thing still happens. the only way i can get it to work is to restart my whole computer.

Reset your preference file, but first check if your space bar is working well, make sure it doesn't get stuck at times.
