Hi All
yes i am a newbie to Photoshop Gurus and Photoshop.

I have been trying to fade images using PS CS6 on PC
i have viewed about 6 different you tube tutorials to the letter, and when it comes to actually running the mouse along an image with the gradient tool, to create the fade, nothing happens!!
i have added a layer mask and selected the transparent to background gradient tool, but nothing happens.
Either its not working or more likely i have the settings wrong .

Can someone PLEASE advise.
This is doing my head in!!!
many thanks

i see, in that case use the black to white gradient on the layer mask and see what happens. ;)

press cntrl+z and alter it if it isn't the right direction...

Hi

I have the same problem and could do what Zeealex shared. It works on what I'm doing. The problem now is after I do the first gradient and when I try to do the same gradient for the rest of the edges it doesn't work. It only does it the first time but doesn't keep the gradients. For example, when I do for the left side and then try to do it for the right side it does it for the right side but immediately erase the left side gradient. I'm really frustrated....

You can change the gradient blend mode to multiply. But chances are you'd be better off making a selection with the rect. marque tool, fill the selection in the mask then feather it in the mask palette.
