I select the area to be cropped on the image.
Select "image>crop" and enter.
The picture disappears.

I had this happen with CS3 once; it was suggested to reinstall; I did and it solved the problem.
This time I have reinstalled PS CS4 twice (uninstalled first) and it still does this.
My PS CS3 was a separate PS package; the CS4 is part of the Adobe Creative Suite 4 (standard). The second reinstall, I reinstalled the whole Creative Suite. Still does the disappearing act.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

It seems my Photoshop CS4 problem has even stumped the "official" Adobe Tech support. I asked for help from them and still haven't received an answer (its been 5 days now). I have gone back to using CS3 because it works. I'm still open to any suggestions anyone may have to fix the CS4 problem. I'm running on Mac OS 10.5.7.

Hi, I had the same problem, but solved it. I hope that this will help you. In the Crop tool bar, where you have Width, Height, Resolution, etc. somehow I had the value of 1 pxl in the Width box, so when I clicked Enter the image as if disappeared (but it became so small that you couldn't see it). I cleared this box and now it is working fine again.

Fixed the problem!

Thanks fc4, I just now joined this forum because of your excellent answer. It may have taken me light years to have figured this problem out. I was having the same problem and clearing the width box was the cure. Also I would assume this would apply to all three of the size boxes however my width box was set to 1px.

Thank you!

Thank you fc4 for the tip! It worked. . .I'll be sure to pass this on to Adobe. . .if I ever hear back from them :-)

Thanks

Hi,

I had the same problem and it was driving me nuts trying to work out what it was. Somehow I must have entered a 1 in the width column and my images kept disappearing.

Great tip!

Thanks,

MD

Thank you,
your proposal has worked out fine for me ! I just cleared the box and the problem was fixed.

You're a genius, I've had that problem for ages and couldn't figure it out. I've just joined the forum to say thanks, so thanks :)

Thank you! Well done! Worked like a treat! phew....:)

Re: Thanks

Thank you FC4. One and a half years after this posting I had the same problem with CS5 until one minute ago when I read your reply. I knew it had to be something simple. Looked through preferences and nothing, but never looked up at the tool bar itself. Yep it was set to one pixel. I knew I'd get my answer here, but I'm surprised that it happened at all. I sure didn't do it -- that I know of. Who knows? Just glad the problem is solved!

I tried the fix given in July 2009 and it worked. This is copied below. In the Crop tool bar, where you have Width, Height, Resolution, etc. somehow I had the value of 1 pxl in the Width box, so when I clicked Enter the image as if disappeared (but it became so small that you couldn't see it). I cleared this box and now it is working fine again. I found this did the trick. Many thanks
