Hi there folks- the colour picker/eyedropper tool in my copy of Photoshop CS4 seems to have defaulted to picking the background colour somehow, and try as I might I can't figure out how to set the preference back to foreground...
If it helps, it's running on a MacBook Pro with OSX Snow Leopard.

Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated by myself and my alt key!
Thanks!

Hi JayBee.
Are you saying when you use the eyedropper tool in an image the color you choose becomes the new background not foreground color?
And your reference to the ALT key.
Are you holding down the ALT key to get it to work properly?

If so that's opposite the way it should work.

If there there no other problems in or out of Photoshop with the keyboard or the Alt key try resetting your preferences file in PS.
In Windows you hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys while starting PS.
I assume it's Command+Alt+Shift on your Mac.

your eyedropper should pick which ever layer is selected in you layers window i must not understand the question.

Thanks guys, Steve- that's exactly what's happening; it's working the opposite way around! I'll try a preferences reset and see what happens... Failing that I guess a reinstall may sort it. I'll let you know the results- Thanks again!
