I think I have seen erosion effect somewhere in Photoshop, try to find it, I'll check for it too.

I see the filter Wind doing similar effect, but only horisontally or vertically so you would have to rotate the picture by 45 degrees.

The funny thing is, that there actually is an effect in photoshop called crosshatch, just do like this:

"Filter -> Filter Gallery... -> Brush strokes -> Crosshatch" :)! There's also sprayed strokes, angled strokes and stuff that would help! (:

Wind should do a little like the same too, just not angled I think!

You are right, I do not know these filters a lot, since I use Photoshop for photographs, very rarely for any creativeness, I am awful when it comes to graphic arts.
