Cropping an image in Hide but how to un-crop it

Hi

I create a new layer with the image and crop it with the hide option checked off.

Later if I want to uncrop or un-hide the crop - what do I do to get it back? The cropped portion is only supposed to be hidden.

Thanks

How did you crop it? Did you use the crop tool or did you use a layer mask? If you used the crop tool did you have 'delete cropped pixels' unchecked? If it was unchecked you can go to Image - Canvas size and increase the area that's shown.

Hi - Thankfully I did not save it so nothing is lost. The Hide button was checked - not the delete.
I did it in a new layer too.

To unhide the crop, I turned off the layer and that did not do anything.

I just redid it but had to write down the image size first before cropping it. After cropping it I set the canvas size back to the original size and the image returned as uncropped.

I would have thought there would be a cleaner way to un-hide the crop.

What exactly are you trying to do? It seems like cropping something then basically uncropping it again is an unnecessary process.

I am working on only one section of a house. May need the other section in the future. The hide feature seemed good in theory, but not what I had hoped. i can work around it but thought it worked differently. Thanks!

Personally I wouldn't do it that way. If I was working on a particular part of an image, and I didn't want to change the rest of the image, I would create a new layer. The best way to do this by using the lasso tool (L) to select whatever part you like, then right click on select copy to new layer.
